COLLEGE PATHWAY EVENTS
SUPPORTING YOU WITH EVERY
STEP.
S2S College Pathway Events support students on their way to stable and independent futures.
These programs celebrate students while providing concrete support on their way to and through college and into the first steps of their career.
Take Flight
In August, the Take Flight College Reception celebrates 215+ CHA graduating high school seniors who will be first time college freshman at more than 60 institutions across the country that include Brown, Howard and the University of Illinois. While students may receive financial aid to pay for tuition, CHA youth still face a significant gap between their aid award and their family's ability to pay to the cost of other out-of-pocket expenses. The Take Flight reception meets a critical need by providing students with dorm essentials such as linens, lamps, towels, toiletries, and laptop computers.
S2S will notify eligible families.
S2s networking + Recruitment
In January, the S2S Networking and Recruitment Event hosts college students over winter break. This event serves two primary purposes; provide youth with information and resources to help them persist in their studies (access to college counselors, free courses at Chicago City Colleges thru CHA’s intergovernmental agreement), and to connect them to summer internship and job opportunities in a corporate networking session.
